Astonishing Tales Of Mediocrity: The Brandon Mendelson Story

Disclosures

Business: My book, Social Media Is Bullshit, is being published by St. Martin’s Press. St. Martin’s Press is a division of Macmillan Publishers.

My advance was $26,000, which is a $1,000 more than what I would have made if I had accepted a job at Traveler’s Insurance in Glens Falls, New York. Most of this is going to be used exclusively for marketing the book.

Stocks: I don’t own any stock at the moment, but two of my brothers are mentally disabled (Brad and Keith), and they are huge wrestling fans. I don’t know if there’s a correlation there …

I have plans of buying up as much WWE stock as I can for them. Since World Wrestling Entertainment went public, the stock has consistently performed poorly, so … I ain’t getting rich owning this shit.

Having stock in WWE is simply a cool thing the three of us can enjoy together.

Religion: I have no religious affiliation. Neither does my family, although we still pretend to be Jewish. My wife and her family are religious though, so I tend to lay off jokes involving Jesus … Unless they’re really funny.

Atheists are just as annoying and arrogant as the super religious, so I don’t hold any sort of position when it comes to God and the afterlife.

Politics:  I have no specific party affiliation and don’t vote. If you’re looking to peg me as something it would be a “Pro-public education Libertarian.”

Good luck trying to figure that one out.

Sports: I follow the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Buffalo Sabres.

Media: Although I’ve freelanced for a lot of different places, I’ve learned my lesson. I can’t contribute in a corporate environment where the aim is to please advertisers, not readers. I don’t fit in. For that reason, beyond the book and any future ones, you can only find my writing here.
